Victoria Day Celebrations 1876

The loyal inhabitants of Puslinch have always been up to the mark in a display of patriotism on the 24th, and this year found them at their post.  The village of Aberfoyle was the centre of attraction, and by noon the place was swarming with lads and lasses, all rigged out in their holiday attire.  The main feature of the day’s proceedings was the games and races, for which handsome prizes were given.  The judges were Messrs. W. M. Todd, James Caulfield, and Peter Mahon, and they discharged their by no means easy duties to the satisfaction of all.

At the close of the games, the Committee of Management, the judges, and a few invited guests, sat down to a repast, got up in Mrs. Mooney’s well-known excellent style.

In the evening, there was a grand ball in the Town Hall, which was a grand success.  There was a large number of people present, the music was first-class, and a most enjoyable time was spent.

Everything during the day passed off pleasantly, and every credit is due to the Committee of Management for the excellent manner in which they carried out all of the arrangements.
