“PUSLINCH IN THE PAPERS”

THE NEWSPAPER CLIPPING COLLECTION OF

MILDRED MARY CLARK

“From my earliest recollections, my mother, Mildred Mary Clark, was clipping articles from newspapers, usually “The Guelph Mercury”.   In 1980, while researching for a book on the village of Morriston, I divided the collection into Puslinch Township and other.  It was then that I realized that my mother had collected a history of Puslinch, published by the Guelph Mercury.  I chose a portion of these to compile in 2001.

The 168 selected clippings, spanning 53 years from 1945 to 1998, were reproduced by scanning the original articles and photos.  In making the selections, I attempted to cover all areas of the township and all issues that were published.  Most of the articles are dated and are arranged by date.  Some are historical writings covering the earliest days of Puslinch and some include historical background on an issue, a building or the commemoration of an event.  Together, they provide an account of Puslinch Township from the days of the Attawandaron First Nation, prior to 1651, to the next Millennium.”
